Redirect Checker: 301 & Status
Moving a site, changing URLs or fixing a Search Console "Redirect error"? Paste URLs or your whole redirect map (old URL → new URL) into ChatGPT. The checker follows every hop and shows each status code, redirect chains and loops, 302s that should be 301s, http→https and www/non-www problems, the final status, canonical tags that point elsewhere, and meta-refresh or JavaScript redirects. For a migration map, every row gets a pass or fail against its expected target.
Use Redirect Checker: 301 & Status in ClaudeHow it works
- In ChatGPT, ask for example: "Check where http://example.com/old-page redirects and flag chains or 302s", or paste a CSV of old and new URLs: "Check every row of my redirect map lands on the right page."
- The checker requests each URL from its server, follows up to 10 redirects one by one and records every status code and Location.
- You get a table with a verdict per URL, the issues to fix, and a CSV export. ChatGPT can then write the corrected .htaccess, nginx, Netlify, Vercel or Shopify rules.
Up to 200 rows per request; for longer maps ChatGPT continues where it stopped. Start from the redirect map CSV template (columns old_url,expected_url; paths like /old-page work when you give the site address).
Limits
Only public websites can be checked: no localhost, intranet or private addresses, and no pages behind a login. Some sites block automated checkers or answer differently by country or device; those results are labelled, not reported as broken redirects.
